Licensed facilities across Metro Detroit — Wayne, Oakland, Macomb, and Washtenaw counties.
Facilities are licensed by the Michigan Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs (LARA), Bureau of Community and Health Systems (BCHS). Michigan has no standalone "assisted living" license — communities operate as Homes for the Aged (HFA) under the Public Health Code (1978 PA 368, Part 213) or as Adult Foster Care (AFC) homes under the Adult Foster Care Facility Licensing Act (1979 PA 218), and nursing homes are licensed under Public Health Code Part 217 (verify at the LARA Adult Foster Care & Homes for the Aged licensing search). Medicaid long-term care support is delivered through Michigan's MI Choice Waiver and the MI Health Link Medicare-Medicaid dual demonstration. Neither program pays for HFA/AFC room and board.
